Emerge

A showcase of radically diverse established and emerging authors.

Emerge: The First Generation

Originally conceived as an exploration of gender, Blue Forge Press invited three male authors, three female authors, and three nonbinary authors and gave them a writing prompt every month for the entire year in 2019. But over the course of that year, a truth far more meaningful than gender was discovered. These nine authors--Jennifer DiMarco, Lauren Patzer, Hiromi Cota, Amber Rainey, Marshall Miller, Eliza Loeb, Sheila Mengert, Carrie Avery Moriarty, and David Mecklenburg--are radically different in terms of style, personal ideologies, socio-economics, politics, race, sexuality, religion and more but the passion they each brought to their craft is blind to all of this. Whether just beginning their writing careers or established veterans of the industry, each author was given the same twelve prompts and the stories they created with both surprisingly similar and stunningly dissimilar in fascinating ways.

All hundred and eight stories have been collected across four editions with nine bonus stories and extensive interviews with each author in the Emerge Guidebook.
